PHILADELPHIA - On October 22, 2026, the Rittenhouse neighborhood officially welcomed KYN, a deeply aesthetic Korean-inspired matcha and coffee shop. Located at 1807 Chestnut Street in the former Taylor Chip storefront, the highly anticipated cafe is Young Nam Kwon's first coffee venture, and the creator behind Philadelphia's popular fast-casual sushi spot, Mari Mari.
A Modern Asian Cafe Experience
KYN blends warm hospitality with a heavily curated, artistic atmosphere. The front of the shop features an inviting mix of warm wood and brushed metal, while the back room presents an immersive take on the "cafe of the future," complete with the soothing fragrance of burning hinoki candles.
The interior design and ambiance receive just as much attention as the beverage program, establishing KYN not just as a quick caffeine pit stop, but as an elevated destination for modern Asian cafe culture.
Hand-Whisked Matcha and Cream Tops
The menu is anchored by a serious commitment to quality ingredients, with a focus on premium, ceremonial-grade matcha sourced directly from Uji, Kyoto. Every matcha beverage contains a precise 4.5 grams of powder and is precisely hand-whisked to order.
Beyond traditional matcha and traditional espresso, the cafe serves signature hojicha cream tops and matcha cream tops—sweet, decadent foams layered over iced beverages—alongside a pastry case filled with freshly made goods.
Doors open daily at 7:00 AM, perfectly positioning KYN to capture the morning commuter rush while bringing a much-needed jolt of specialized caffeine to the Chestnut Street corridor.
