Lu & Aug’sPhiladelphia, PA - Lu & Aug's will finally open on Thursday, 27th July, at 1 p.m. after much anticipation.  The family-owned ice cream shop specializes in premium soft-serve ice cream, coffee, affogati, and baked goods. Ash & Pretha Kailath are the owners of the shop. They named it after their teenage children, Laiyla and Augustine, who were instrumental in the idea's conception.

Ardmore Welcomes Lu & Aug’s

AnnouncementLu & Aug’s will give away a small cup or cone for free to anyone who comes to their store on Thursday, July 27, from 6-8 p.m. to introduce the new business in the community. The flavors are vanilla, chocolate, Vanilla and Chocolate Twist, vegan Oatly, and a fourth that changes seasonally.

A portion of sales will also be donated to the Ardmore Food Pantry. This is a non-profit organization run by volunteers that provides food for the hungry in the community. The Kailaths said this was an excellent way to debut their business in the community. "We are known for our delicious food and beverages, so it is only natural that we would benefit an organization in Ardmore which nourishes those in need."

Lu & Aug's food menu features a variety of items, including soft-serve ice cream with vegan options, puppy cups, espresso drinks, coffee-based drinks, and brownies. Also included are Philly favorites Famous 4th Street Cookies, Dottie's Donuts, and Famous 4th Street Cookies. The coffee is from OX Coffee in Philadelphia's Queen Village, chosen for its bold taste and environmentally friendly business practices.

Lu & Aug will introduce the affogato - "drowned" in Italian. It is a decadent, coffee-based treat that's popular throughout Italy. A scoop of ice cream is topped with a freshly brewed shot of espresso. The shop will have about a half dozen affogato flavors, such as Dirty Chai and Salted Caramel, and various seasonal and specialty options.

The 1,200-square-foot restaurant will seat 22 people indoors and be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Located at 28 Rittenhouse Place, Ardmore, PA 19003
