A Celebration of Women's History MonthPhiladelphia, PA - Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, the Roxborough neighborhood is raising a toast to the incredible women who have shaped its history, present, and future. This March, in honor of Women's History Month, New Ridge Brewing Company and the Roxborough Development Corporation are co-hosting a special event: Cheers to Women: A Celebration of History, Brews, and Community.

A Celebration of Women's History Month

The celebration on Saturday, March 23rd, from 12 to 4 pm will be a vibrant showcase of local talent. The event will be headed by renowned beer historian and author Tara Nurin. Nurin's book, A Woman's Place is in the Brewhouse: A Forgotten History of Alewives, Brewsters, Witches and CEOs, will be a focal point. Released in September 2021, it became the first book to chronicle the 200,000-year history of women's involvement in beer, not just brewing but also throughout the entire industry. This groundbreaking work earned Nurin the prestigious 1st Place award at the North American Guild of Beer Writers Book Award in 2022.

The event promises to be more than just a celebration of beer history. Attendees can expect a vibrant women-owned vendor market. This marketplace will allow local female entrepreneurs to showcase their products and connect with the community.

The afternoon will be enlivened by live music performed by local women musicians. This adds another dimension to the celebration, highlighting the artistic talents of women in Roxborough.

While the event itself is free to attend, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Of course, New Ridge Brewing Company will feature some of its finest brews, with unique options likely to complement the celebratory atmosphere. Food vendors will also be on hand, offering various delicious options.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a worthy cause: the Roxborough Home for Women, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting women in need. This adds a layer of social responsibility to the festivities, ensuring that the impact of Cheers to Women extends beyond the celebration itself.

The event's co-organizers, New Ridge Brewing Company and the Roxborough Development Corporation, are deeply invested in celebrating and supporting women.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Tara Nurin and celebrate the achievements of women in our community," said New Ridge Brewing Company Co-Owner Eric Endrikat. He sees the event as a "wonderful opportunity to support and showcase the incredible women who contribute to our local culture and economy."

Jacqueline Cusack, Executive Director of the Roxborough Development Corporation, echoes this sentiment. She highlights the event's ability to "highlight our local women-owned/run businesses and support a great cause in our community." Cusack expresses gratitude for the "opportunity to come together and positively impact the lives of women in need."

Cheers to Women: A Celebration of History, Brews, and Community extends a warm invitation to everyone in the community. Whether you're a beer enthusiast, a history buff, a supporter of local businesses, or someone who wants to celebrate the power of women, this event has something to offer.

Join Roxborough on March 23rd as they raise a glass to the remarkable women who have shaped the neighborhood and continue to shape the world.
