Philly Celebrates National Gluten-Free Day

Ocean Prime has a complete gluten-free friendly menu featuring appetizers, entrées, and desserts. In addition to four appetizers and three salad options, Executive Chef Jenn Grosskruger serves over a dozen entrée offerings, including seafood and steak, plus seven side dishes. Dessert brings sorbet or crème brûlée with fresh berries.

Red Owl Tavern - Executive Chef Caitlin Mateo often focuses on healthful ingredients and seasonality in her dinner menu offerings. Gluten-free guests can enjoy various salads and seafood starters before digging into the main course which includes Sea Scallops and Pork Belly, Braised Short Ribs and Lancaster Duck Breast served with purple potato pave.

Rex 1516 Bar and Restaurant - South Street’s Southern-inspired Rex 1516 offers a full gluten-free dinner menu that includes the Pork Belly Mussels (PEI mussels, celery root purée, pork belly, celery, chervil and gluten-free toast for dipping) and an 8-ounce house-ground burger served with bacon, spicy pimento cheese, crispy red onions and bibb lettuce on a gluten-free bun. The bar offers two hard ciders for gluten-free drinkers.

SQUARE 1682  - Center City’s Square 1682 serves modern American cuisine with the majority of its dinner menu being gluten-free. Executive Chef Robert Surdam released a brand-new menu, the small plates include Bacon Wrapped Dates, Grilled Baby Octopus and Tuna Tartare. More than half of Square 1682’s entrées are gluten-free, so diners can feast on Lamb Shank, Branzino and Scottish Salmon among other delectable dishes.



Urban Farmer - located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, serves a dinner menu full of gluten-free options to enjoy. All the steakhouse’s seafood, steak and vegetarian dishes are gluten-free, as well as eight of its sides. Additional gluten-free meat dishes include the Apple Cider Brined Pork Loin with blue cheese cauliflower mash and pork jus.

The Twisted Tail - offers an extensive selection of brown liquors and specialty cocktails, but did you know 70 percent of its dinner menu is gluten-free? All appetizers besides the lamb meatballs are gluten-free, which includes the Spanish Octopus and Pumpkin Spice Squash and Burrata. With half of the entrées available also being gluten-free, guests can enjoy hearty dishes such as the Smoked Duck Breast with coconut kabocha, black garlic vinaigrette and pineapple jam without any substitutes.
