The newly-reopened, second-floor bar and performance space – Upstairs at Khyber – re-ignites Khyber Pass Pub’s passion as an independent venue and destination for Philly’s music scene.

Upstairs at Khyber features a hand-carved bar, new sound system and views overlooking 2nd Street. Guests can expect a dynamic line-up of events from cutting-edge performers and local Philly artists to movie and trivia nights.
The intimate size and unique atmosphere are perfect for up-and-coming and well-known Philly bands. The venue provides a home for new artists and emerging acts in a setting that has been a launchpad for many famous artists. Notable bands that have played Khyber include The Smashing Pumpkins, The War on Drugs, White Stripes, Hole, Kurt Vile, The Strokes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Iggy Pop.
Upstairs at Khyber will officially open in line with Old City’s First Friday series on September 6 from 5-8pm with “From the Vault: Photos by Paul Havelin” — a photographic retrospective of rock shows at Khyber Pass Pub from former bartender and photographer, Paul Havelin. The exhibit will feature photos of My Morning Jacket, Iggy Pop, Electric Eel Shock, Thor and other celebrated acts who performed at Khyber from the late 1990s-2000s. The event will feature DJ Sideswipe, followed by a performance by Goddamn Gallows.
