Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite10 - The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month this April with a fusion of new and legendary artists.

Cutting-edge pianist Luke Carlos O’Reilly is a Kimmel Center 2017-18 Jazz Resident with a social justice message about the Black Lives Matter movement in his music. Former Jazz Residency Artists Jawanza Kobie and Deb Margolin will return to perform their show Bird Stories for young audiences at Grow Up Great. Plus, Grammy® Award-winning jazz musician, trumpeter, composer, teacher, and music educator Wynton Marsalis will join forces with Grammy® Award-winning jazz pianist and composer Chick Corea for Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. These are just a taste of the fantastic performances the month of April will have to offer!

“The awesome creativity, excitement, and quality always shine through in the Kimmel Center’s jazz programming,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Jazz Appreciation Month will feature something for everyone from straight-ahead jazz to freestyle hip hop and all points in between.”
