Philadelphia, PAWeek 16: Philadelphia Eagles Vs Houston Texans Predictions - As the NFL regular season nears its end, the Philadelphia Eagles sit at 7-7, their playoff hopes still very much alive. Philadelphia is coming off a stunning victory in L.A., with Nick Foles shocking the world once again, and lighting up the Rams defense for 270 yards. Everything seemed to click for the Eagles, as Alshon Jeffrey racked up over 100 receiving yards, the running backs combined for over 100 yards and three touchdowns, and the defense forced a pair of turnovers while shutting down the Rams offense.

Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles Vs Houston Texans Predictions

The way the Eagles played reminded of their magical run last season, and it provides a lot of optimism to a fan base and team that has had some very tough moments this season. Philadelphia has good odds to make the playoffs, as they can get in by winning out, as well as the Vikings dropping one of their next two games. One of those games, Minnesota takes on the Bears, which is a foreseeable loss - if the Bears are playing their starters.

The Eagles need to stay focused and not look ahead too much. They still have to play host to the Houston Texans, one of the top AFC teams, before battling the Redskins, who are also in the playoff chase. The Texans haven’t looked great the last couple of weeks, losing to the Indianapolis Colts at home two weeks ago, and barely edging out the Jets on the road last Saturday. I think both teams are going to enter with a lot of fire, as the Texans are looking to get back to top form and clinch a bye in the playoffs, and the Eagles are trying to rally around Nick Foles again and find a way to sneak into the playoffs themselves.

philadelphia eagles logoFor the Eagles to win on Sunday, they must contain DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins is an incredible receiver, capable of making insane snags at any part of the field, and boasting great size, speed, and route-running. The Eagles defense, to their credit, shut down Jared Goff and the Rams passing attack, holding them to only short passes while applying constant pressure. I expect Jim Schwartz to employ the same strategy against Houston, giving up the underneath passes and trying to get heavy pressure on the quarterback. For the Eagles offense, they have to trust in Foles. He threw the ball very well down the field and showed bravery in the pocket, as he stood in for extended amounts of time. Nick Foles has been here before, and I think he’s going to ignite the Eagle attack into something special once again.

Final Score: Eagles, 35. Texans, 31.
