During the course of his visit, Jeffery also took part in a brief ceremony to commemorate the school’s honor students, as well as take photographs with students and families.
Tilden Middle School is one of Philadelphia’s 12 selected Community Schools that offer extra school-based programs and services to students and families. Philabundance is a crucial partner at Tilden, and during the year disperses meals to students, families, and community members thru a school-based food pantry along with a food backpack program.
“Philabundance serves 90,000 people a week, 30 percent of whom are children, including students at Tilden Middle School,” explained Glenn Bergman, Executive Director of Philabundance. “Thanks to dedicated hunger heroes like ACME and Alshon Jeffrey, students, and their families will have more to be thankful for this holiday.”
Since 2017, Philabundance and Community Schools have distributed over 100,000 pounds of food to students and community members.
