Philadlephia HomicidesPhiladelphia, PA - A South Philadelphia man was shot in the thigh and pronounced dead after being taken to Jefferson Hospital, just after midnight on New Year’s Day, starting off the first homicide of 2021.


 

Philadelphia Sees First Homicide of The New Year

As 2020 came to a close more than 2,000 people fell victim to shooting incidents in Philadelphia. With a recorded 499 homicides—that’s the highest homicide number since 1990, recorded 500 deaths.

The violence last year in cities all across the country was high during the coronavirus crisis. As 2020 also saw a surge in women and children being caught in the crossfire.
