Philadelphia, PA - Chef Jeff Newman hopes to open his flagship concept in 2023 as a brick-and-mortar, following the success of the Fishtown pop-ups, which closed less than a year ago.
According to a recent article in The Philadelphia Business Journal, Hi-Lo Taco will open its permanent Center City location at 1109 Walnut Street. This is in addition to the Fishtown pop-up restaurant that Chef Jeff Newman used to run.
Newman plans to remodel the restaurant, once home to New York's fast-food chain Bareburger. It is located in a 3000-square-foot building.
Its defining element will be a feature wall showcasing the many players who helped Hi-Lo Taco become a reality.
Hi-Lo's current menu includes Sunday breakfast tacos like Chorizo, Burnt Ends, and Dexter, as well as staples such the BBQ Chicken, Mushroom Asada, and Crunchy Shell Chili Supreme.
It includes "more than a dozen tacos" and house-made queso and barbecue, bowls, salads, and bowls. A final menu is currently being developed for the new permanent location.
