Pennsylvania Allows Delivery Robots to Roam The Streets

Philadelphia, PARobots in Pennsylvania - Could we soon be seeing robots from Amazon and FedEx roaming the streets of Philadelphia? The last time a robot came to Philly it did not go well for the bot.

 

Pennsylvania Legalizes Delivery Robots as Pedestrians

Pennsylvania is now the 12th U.S. state to legalize delivery robots and now allowed to roam the sidewalks alongside pedestrians.

PA Authorizes Autonomous Personal Delivery Devices or Personal Delivery Devices are now legalized in Pennsylvania are essentially now considered pedestrians. They will have to give the right of way to "Human" pedestrians and cyclists.

The PA Senate Bill 1199 will allow robots weighing up to 550 pounds without cargo, up to 12 miles per hour on sidewalks, to deliver goods in urban and suburban environments.
