Fat Jack's Barbecue - Elkins Park, PA

Winter is approaching the end of its season. This means it's almost time for warm weather and all the foods that we enjoy eating during that time of the year! One thing we all especially look forward to eating is barbecue! There's a few barbecue places within the Philadelphia area, but there's one place that's been doing it very well through the years. It's Fat Jack's Barbecue.

I recently visited Fat Jack's at their Elkins Park location (8120 Old York Rd Elkins Park PA 19027). I've been hearing wonderful things about their food, so I couldn't wait to check them out. Kevin (son of Glenn Gross the owner) was there and he made sure my food was served to perfection. They serve all of your barbecue favorites like ribs, chicken and brisket . I personally wanted to try one for their special sandwiches. I started with the Notorious P.I.G. Sammich. This sandwich is made with pork belly, bacon and pulled pork topped with Cajun maple syrup, slaw and their Memphis dry rub. As soon as I bit into it, I experienced a mouthful of heaven! Next, I dove into their Tennessee Tornado Sam'ich. This is made with their grilled Southern sausage, pulled pork, grilled onions, slaw, dry rub and a delicious mustard BBQ sauce. I loved this mustard BBQ sauce, it was a great addition to all the flavors I tasted within this sandwich. The third sandwich I tried was a spicy Texas Twister. This is made with pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, jalapeño, spicy BBQ sauce and topped with slaw. All three sandwiches were special in their own way, but the Notorious P.I.G. won my heart out of them all! They're all pretty large sandwiches, so bring your appetite when ordering one of these!Next, I dove into their Tennessee Tornado Sam'ich. My visit to Fat Jack's wouldn't be complete without trying their ribs. I was able to experience them four ways. BBQ, Honey BBQ, dry rub and spicy. I had two favorites, the honey BBQ and the dry rub! I never really eat dry rub ribs. But Fat Jack's was able to make me change my mind about that real quick! Their ribs were very tender and so flavorful. I now have a new found love for dry rib ribs.

Now all of these mouthwatering entrees wouldn't be complete without some tasty sides. I tried their mac n' cheese, BBQ beans, chili and greens. I personally loved the greens. They have an awesome smoked flavor. Also, instead of cooking them with pork they actually use chicken. It's a healthier alternative to pork and it tastes just as great. A huge thank you goes out to Kevin of Fat Jack's for the warm hospitality. Him and the amazing staff made my visit a one of a kind experience. If you're looking for some authentic BBQ, stop by one of the many Fat Jack's locations. They'll treat you right and feed you good!
