Independence Park -
Wawa announced it is building the worlds largest Wawa convenience store in the heart of Independence Mall. Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens made the announcement during the course of the 2200 block of South Street opening this past week. The new store is going to be more than 11,000 sq ft and situated at Independence Mall in the Public Ledger Building.
Largest Wawa Coming to Independence Mall
The statement happened on “Wawa Day” as the convenience chain honors its 54 years in business. Currently, the largest Wawa at this time is located in Washington, D.C. at 9,200 square feet. However, Gheysens affirms the brand-new Independence Park store will soon be the largest and very best Wawa when construction is completed.
The company is also preparing to open up five more stores in the Philadelphia region: 34th and Market Street near Drexel University; 13th and Chestnut Streets; 12th and Market Streets; Harbison Street and Tulip Avenue; and Roosevelt Boulevard and Byberry.
