Easy Chocolate Dipped Apples: A Fun & Delicious Treat for Kids (and Adults!)

Yields: 6 servings Prep time: 10 minutes Chill time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Wax or parchment paper
  • Six wooden craft sticks or clean sticks
  • Six medium tart-sweet apples (such as Fuji, Gala, or Braeburn), were washed, dried, and stems removed
  • 1 cup chopped NESTLÉ CRUNCH®, NESTLÉ® BUTTERFINGER®, or peanuts (or other desired toppings)
  • 2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

Equipment:

  • Baking sheet or tray
  • Medium, microwave-safe bowl
  • Plates

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet and Apples: Line a baking sheet or tray with wax or parchment paper. Push a wooden craft stick or clean stick firmly into the core of each apple. Refrigerate the apples while you melt the chocolate. This will help the chocolate adhere better.
  2. Prepare Toppings: Place your chosen toppings (NESTLÉ CRUNCH®, NESTLÉ® BUTTERFINGER®, peanuts, etc.) on separate plates for easy dipping.
  3. Melt Chocolate: Melt the NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels in a medium, microwave-safe bowl according to package directions. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  4. Dip Apples: Dip (or roll) each apple about three-quarters of the way into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  5. Coat with Toppings: Immediately roll the chocolate-covered apple in your desired topping, pressing gently to ensure it adheres.
  6. Chill and Set: Place the coated apples on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for about 15 minutes or until the chocolate is completely set.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate is firm, remove the apples from the refrigerator and enjoy!

Tips and Variations:

  • Add a teaspoon of vegetable oil or shortening to the melting chocolate for a smoother chocolate coating.
  • Experiment with different toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, or crushed cookies.
  • Drizzle the dipped apples with white chocolate or caramel for an extra touch of sweetness.
  • Use different types of chocolate, such as milk chocolate or dark chocolate.
