The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia is a project of the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) with tremendous support from Subaru of America, Inc as its title sponsor.

The centerpiece of the festival, held at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center and Centennial Arboretum, features family-friendly cultural celebrations.

Activities:Expect a variety of activities, including cosplay fashion shows, live karaoke, Taiko drumming, traditional dance presentations, music and vocal performances, live karate demonstrations, a beer garden, a vendor market, hands-on activities like calligraphy, face painting, and Japanese tabletop games.

Other Events:A cherry blossom tree-planting ceremony, cooking classes with the “Queen of Sushi” Madame Saito, and a "prettiest pet in pink" parade are also part of the festival.

Gift of Cherry Trees:The festival celebrates the 1926 gift of 1,600 flowering trees, including cherry trees, from the Government of Japan to the City of Philadelphia.

Tree Planting Initiatives:JASGP has continued this legacy with tree planting campaigns, including a ten-year, 1,000-tree planting campaign completed in 2007 and a 250-tree planting initiative to commemorate America's semiquincentennial.

Subaru of America Sponsorship:In 2003, Subaru of America, Inc. increased its support of the cherry tree planting project with title sponsorship, and the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia was born.
