Below are a few African-American bookshops located in Philadelphia, from historic Hakim's Bookstore founded over 60 years ago to Hariteet's women-centric and activism-forward bookstore.

Hakim's Bookstore & Gift Shop – Among the country's oldest Black-owned booksellers, located inside the very same West Philly address where Dawud Hakim founded the bookstore over 60 years ago. This historical, old-school and family-friendly, shop is now operated by Hakim's daughter carrying on the family tradition. 210 S. 52nd Street, Yvonne Blake, proprietor.

Harriett's – Fishtown's vibrant, women-centric, art- and activism-forward, frankincense-scented, bookshop. Named-for-Harriet Tubman bookstore in February 2020. On the shelves, you will find Toni Morrison's full collection, Zora Neale Hurston, children's books as well as literature that the owner and staff enjoy reading. Black and Nobel – Much more than merely just a bookstore, this cultural center boasts DVDs and a selection of wellness and health products in unique surroundings with original art along with lively music. They also deliver on electric bikes: 410 South Street, Hakim Hopkins, proprietor.

Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books – A Temple professor's and Reporter owns this Germantown bookstore. Offering up plenty of books and living room vibe for communities that typically go underserved. The spot takes its name from Lamont Hill's favorite uncle, who nurtured his love of reading. 5445 Germantown Avenue, Marc Lamont Hill, proprietor.
