Philadelphia Streamlines In-Person Block Party Application Process

Philadelphia, PA -The Philadelphia Streets Department and Police Department announced today a streamlined process for residents applying for block party permits. Applicants will now have one less step in the approval process as they no longer need to visit their local Police District to submit an application in-person or by mail. The Departments will now manage this step of the process internally, saving residents extra time and added process.

Mayor Kenney Wants to Raise the Minimum Wage for City Workers to $15/hour

Philadelphia, PA - Mayor Kenney today announced legislation that would raise the minimum wage for City workers and employees of City contractors to $15 an hour over four years.If approved by the full Council, it would raise the minimum wage governing employees of contractors and subcontractors, as well as City workers, from the current rate of $12.20 an hour.

Philadelphia Passes Sodium Bill Warning for Restaurant Menus

Philadelphia, PA - Calling it an important step forward for public health, Mayor Jim Kenney signed legislation today requiring chain restaurants to place warning labels next to each menu item containing 2,300 or more milligrams of sodium – the amount in about a teaspoon of salt – which is the maximum recommended total sodium intake for an entire day.
