Philadelphia's New PHLpreK Program Creates Teaching Opportunities

PHILADELPHIA PA – Mayor Jim Kenney's PHLpreK, the City of Philadelphia’s quality pre-K program, funded by the City of Philadelphia Soda Tax, has created 251 jobs to date. In a survey completed by PHLpreK providers last week, pre-K center owners and directors reported having created 191 teaching positions; 147 of which are full time and 44 are part-time. In addition, pre-K providers have hired 60 support and administrative staff members. The average wage reported is $14.72 per hour. Also See.. Philadelphia Introduces Legislation Advancing Rebuilding of City

PHILADELPHIA PA – Alongside Mayor Jim Kenney FY18 Budget, Capital Plan and Five Year Plan, the Kenney Administration also introduced today two ordinances to authorize $300 million in borrowing and create a governance structure for Rebuild. Rebuild is the multi-year program to revitalize neighborhood parks, recreation centers, playgrounds, and libraries across the city.
