Philadelphia, PA - JAY-Z curated two-day music festival and staple of Labor Day Weekend, returns to Philadelphia for a seventh year. A primary goal of MADE IN AMERICA is to have a positive impact on the communities involved. Since the inaugural two-day concert in 2012, the event has generated $31.9 million in economic impact for the city. This year, the festival, produced by Roc Nation, will continue to benefit the ACLU of Pennsylvania as well as United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

Philadelphia Celebrates Immigrant Heritage Month

Philadelphia, PA - In celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month, the City’s Department of Commerce is working with immigrant-owned restaurants on Passport PHL, an initiative designed to encourage residents to explore the city’s diverse neighborhoods and businesses. The third iteration of Passport PHL, which runs June 1-30, 2018, will take place in the Oxford Circle neighborhood.

Philadelphia Clears Two Opioid Tent Camps in Kensington

Philadelphia, PA - The City of Philadelphia announced the completion of a pilot encampment action plan for the Kensington area as part of the City’s latest efforts in combating the opioid crisis in Philadelphia. The 30-day pilot targeted Tulip Street and Kensington Avenue encampments that were adjacent to residential neighborhoods and posed a health and safety threat to those who stay there as well as to the neighbors.

Philadelphia, PA - Philadelphia's very first medical marijuana dispensary is currently open for business. Restore Integrative Wellness, located in Fishtown at 957 Frankford Avenue. The store joins over two dozen similar medical marijuana dispensaries which have popped up ever since Pennsylvania legalized medicinal cannabis.

Philadelphia, PA - Sharonell Fulton and other foster parents asked a Philadelphia court late yesterday to end a new City policy that is leaving foster homes sitting empty while the City is in a foster care crisis. In Sharonell Fulton, et al. v. City of Philadelphia, the City must answer for its decision to stop allowing Catholic Social Services to place children in foster homes, solely because the City disagrees with the agency’s religious beliefs – a decision the City is threatening to make permanent on June 30.
