Philadelphia Aug 21, 2015 - Drone's Ban During Pope visits Philadelphia next month.

 

A ban was , announced by the Federal Aviation Administration, extends to all drones, including those belonging to the news media.

The "temporary flight restrictions" also apply to the Department of Defense and law enforcement.

The FAA ordered the ban at the request of the Department of Homeland Security.



While the Pope is also scheduled to visit New York City and Washington, D.C., Philadelphia is the only area where drones have been banned.

 Also a FAA spokeswoman said that members of the news media may request airspace for helicopters, but she added that such access might be limited as well.



Also included in the drone ban are aircraft used for crop dusting, model rockets and banner towing.
