Philadelphia, PA - September 22nd is the first day of autumn, and last I heard, folks are understandably more than ready for pumpkin spiced-anything. Fall can't come soon enough, and it arrives this weekend (along with a day of predicted good-lookin' weather).
Here's an activity suggestion, particularly if you want to be (and who doesn't?) outdoors and active when it's NOT raining cats and dogs.
C'mon out to scenic, pastoral Gladwyne in Philly's 'burbs for the first of its kind ... the inaugural "LILYAULAIT (Lily-au lait) 5K & 1-Mile Walk," proceeds of which benefit the non-profit Animal Legal Defense Fund ("defending the defenseless").
LILYAULAIT (Lily-au lait)Whether you're a walker or runner, a lover of nature and/or animals, this is your chance to do good and feel great. Twenty-five bucks gets you registered as a participant (see online sign-up link below). Lace up your trainers and show up at St. Christopher's Church (226 Righters Mill Road), where day-of registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the actual event starts at 8:00 a.m. (you can sleep in on Sunday). Event timers Bryn Mawr Racing Company and Sharon Kozden (yours truly!) as first-time Race Director will take care of the rest.
In addition to the satisfaction derived from giving to a worthy cause and the endorphin kick from working out, you'll be fed post-event, watered during and awarded age-group and overall prizes after.
