Pietro's Prime, West Chester, PA. Philadelphia, PA - Its mid-day, and I just made it through a tropical storm, Isaias. My favorite, Amigo Dan, was available for an adventure, so we headed out for parts unknown and wound up in West Chester, PA.

I am actually starting to appreciate West Chester. I am probably going to be sad when the students return and spoil my tranquil, newly adopted town. I am always amazed at all of the old historic buildings in the area as well as just how many people are working around the country courthouse.

Parking was a mess due to building and construction taking place all around West Chester. Plus, downtown is participating in the whole street dining movement, with Gay Street closed up for the restaurant and bar dining experience, which is helpful when you are day drinking, not so helpful when trying to finding on-street parking.

We stopped into Pietro's Prime which turned out to be a pleasant surprise and could perhaps be my special occasion spot. It even has a larger than life portrait of what I presume to be Pietro himself. I just might have to return to Pietro's because they offer not one but two cheesesteaks on the lunch menu, I wanted to try.

They have two really great choices, the Pietro's Steak Sandwich, grilled steak on a roll, and the Slow Roasted Prime Rib cheesesteak. We decided on the Slow Roasted Prime Rib- -Shaved prime rib, along with provolone cheese, horseradish, and side of Au-Jus.

It comes on a round roll, which was, without a doubt, the weak link. The shaved slow-roasted prime rib, however, was terrific, and you'll find it almost melts-in-your-mouth. Then again, the provolone got a little lost.

The horseradish cream sauce was an ideal complement, with very nice flavor but not too overwhelming. It did, however, came with a side item. Overall there were actually a few things I actually liked and a couple of things I did not. But like I said, I'll be back soon.
