PhillyBite10Philadelphia, PA - Since opening their first wine, cheese and beer cafe in 2004, Tria has consistently earned critical acclaim and amassed a wealth of loyal fans. They have been cited on Philadelphia magazine’s “Best of Philly” lists nearly a dozen times, and Wine Director Michael “The Curator” McCaulley has been a James Beard Award semifinalist for his outstanding wine program four times. Bon Appetit named Tria one of the “Hot 10” wine bars in the country, while Food & Wine cited them among “America’s 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences.”

On Monday, August 28, Tria Cafe Fitler Square will welcome guests for the last time. The friendly restaurant and cafe will host a Farewell Party with festive going-away prices on sparkling wine, select cheeses and draft beer, and will also donate 20% of their proceeds from the evening to the NAACP and Anti-Defamation League.

“We look forward to sharing one last night with our friends and neighbors in Fitler Square, and we hope they will join us in making this occasion about something greater than ourselves,” says owner Jon Myerow. “This event is not about red vs. blue; it’s about my young children not enduring the Nazism that my father fought against in WWII. For our diverse and inclusive staff, it’s about love vs. hate. There is no political ownership of kindness; it’s just the right thing to do.”

Tria’s goal is to raise $2,000 for the NAACP and ADL. While it’s a start, 20% of proceeds for the day won’t get there alone, so high-ranking representatives from both organizations will be on site, to discuss their good works and to accept additional donations.

“Even if we achieve our goal, $2,000 is a drop in the bucket,” says Myerow. “But as with good wine, every drop counts. We look forward to hosting our final night at Fitler Square for a good cause – with plenty of wine, cheese and beer, of course.”

Tria Cafe Fitler Square will host a few of its best-known events in the days leading up to Monday’s Farewell Party:

  • Saturday, August 26 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.: a final Saturday Wine Market, with bottles to go at special prices and 3-oz. tastes of the featured wines for just $3 each
  • Sunday, August 27 from open to close: one last Sunday School, with deep discounts on one wine, one cheese and one beer (Sunday School will continue at both Tria Cafe Rittenhouse and Tria Cafe Wash West)

Full brunch and dinner menus will be served on Sunday; on Monday, August 28, the restaurant will serve their full wine, cheese and beer menus, with special pricing on sparkling wines, select cheeses and draft beers.
