- The popular burger chain Shake Shack is expanding, and it's coming to a shopping center near you. Shake Shack has over 200 locations in 10 countries, including 20 in the U.S., and has plans to double its base by 2020. The new Shake Shack store will be located at 950 Baltimore Pike, Suite N-01 Springfield, PA 19064.
Shake Shack to Expand to Springfield PA
The restaurant chain is well-known for its signature ShackBurger, which contains a beef patty, American cheese, and Shake Shack Sauce. In addition, it's introducing new menu items, including a bacon cheeseburger.
The chain has been expanding to new locations and offering employees higher wages. Starting wages at Shake Shack have risen 13% over the last quarter and now average $15 per hour. Earlier this year, Shake Shack launched the Shift Up program, which gives hourly employees the opportunity to advance into management positions. Sixty shift managers are currently completing a leadership program and becoming salary-level managers.
The company plans to open 45-50 corporate-owned Shake Shack locations in the U.S. by the end of the year. The company plans to install Shack Track drive-up windows at 25% of the restaurants and install drive-through windows at 10 to 15% of its locations. Shake Shack currently has 260 domestically-owned locations. However, the company's expansion in the Springfield area is likely to be a welcome addition to the region.
