Starr Restaurants Reopens Pod as Korean American Concept Kpod

Kpod is an ultra-modern cultural oasis that embodies Korean ingenuity in a unique culinary experience, bringing futuristic and fun cuisine to the present. Based on Peter Serpico's Pete's Place ghost kitchen concept, the menu features classic and creative Korean-American interpretations of Korean cuisine. Diners can enjoy a drink at the bar or relax in a capsule for a family dinner.

Highlights include a variety of Korean-style rolls and small dishes including seafood, kimchi, vegetable pancakes (bukimgae), Korean dumplings (mandu) stuffed with carrots and tofu or fried pork and kimchi, spiced rice cakes, rice cakes, and chips with honey butter.

The interactive Ssam section is at the center of the menu, with various meat and seafood options, including bone-in braised short ribs and kimchi-buttered shrimp. Rice and noodle dishes include Korean favorites such as fried glass noodles (Japchae) and Bibimbap, accompanied by unique interpretations of Korean dishes such as creamy rice cakes with broccoli and black truffle oil in an elegant creamy pecorino sauce.

Ramyun's selection includes creative and straightforward options. One of them is Korean Army Stew, a surprisingly delicious dish that combines traditional Korean and American elements with origins dating back to US troops in Korea during the Korean War in the 1950s.

The Kpod Drinks Program captures the cosmos's vibrant, lively, and playful energy. Natural colors and bold flavors accentuate Kpod cocktails, building on the original Pod cocktail program, where cocktails are named after the bright lights that illuminate the Pod booths.

The wines featured on the menu include a global selection based on the low intervention world of natural winemaking. Craft beers, ciders, Korean soju, and sparkling rice complete the menu.

K pod is located in the University City area of Philadelphia at 3636 Sansom St, Philadelphia, PA 19104. It will operate for dinner Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday through Saturday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Sundays from 17:00. Until 22:00.

The restaurant also plans to open for lunch in spring 2022. The total capacity of the restaurant is up to 200 people.
