Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite The Talk - TALK (2121 Walnut Street; 215-515-3608), the New American restaurant and bar from owner Andrew Kochan and executive chef Tim Lanza quietly opened its doors last weekend. Formerly the space of L’Image Photography Studios, TALK will offer seasonally inspired dishes and thoughtfully crafted cocktails. Unlike Marigold Kitchen’s avant-garde tasting menus, TALK (an acronym for Tim Andrew Lanza Kochan) will offer an eclectic a la carte menu, that uses locally sourced foods to prepare small and large plates with precision and care.

Highlights include a Daily Oyster Selection with rotating accompaniments ($15); Panzanella with strawberries, basil jam, sourdough and burrata ($14); Mushrooms terrine & tart ($13); Fluke Crudo with watermelon, cucumber, borage and chili ($13): Black Pepper Pasta with parmesan broth, morel mushrooms, fig and prosciutto ($20); Scallops with succotash, country ham, cornbread, huitlacoche ($22); and for dessert, Lemon Semifreddo with berries, meringue, mint ($12).

Talk rittenhouse sq"Look for contemporary cuisine, inspired by various cultural influences,” explains owner Andrew Kochan. "We are also heavily focused on working with as many local producers as is possible.”

General Manager Amanda June, formerly of Jet Wine Bar, helms the front of the house and cultivates a unique atmosphere with attentive service. Her wine list and cocktails reflect her passion for ingredient-driven execution and are designed to pair well with the dishes.

TALK's look is one of an early 20th-century hotel bar. Designed by Kochan, with help from artist Aissulu Kadyrzhanova, space feels art deco with touches of the gothic style of the building's facade. Hardwood floors and wooden tables will contrast against a white marble bar with old-world comfortable seats and barstools. Space features a 14 seat mezzanine with a bird’s eye view of the restaurant and bar. Below, the dining room has 26 seats with another 15 at the bar, and outdoor dining coming soon!

Dinner is served Tuesday through Sunday from 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm. The bar is open until 1:00 am. Look for Happy Hour in the coming weeks, with brunch to follow.

Reservations can be made by calling 215-515-3608
