Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite Lalo Philly -Neal Santos, Jillian Encarnacion and Resa Mueller, are bringing the Philippines to The Bourse Marketplace this summer with Lalo, a innovative fast-casual concept that will highlight Filipino comfort food.

Named after the Filipino terms for grandmother and grandfather, Lalo will be influenced by the approachable and friendly soul of Filipino cooking - lutong bahay (Filipino home cooking) — straightforward, flavorful, and warm hearted.

The ingredient-influenced menu will rotate, although, dishes such as inihaw, grilled pork and/or chicken served with atchara (pickled) over garlic rice will certainly be a menu fixture. They will in additionally serve San Miguel beer as well as a variety of craft cocktails.

Lalo will also offer a Kamatis Salad, featuring salt-cured eggs sourced locally from Farm 51, an urban farm operated by Neal Santos, regionally-sourced tomatoes, green mango and a bagoong vinaigrette.

The owners are working alongside Manila-based OneZero Design Co. to layout the 300 sq ft. space, that will drawing inspiration from everyday household items such as the Filipino banig, a traditional sleeping mat hand-woven out of palm leaves or grasses and dyed in vivid colors and patterns.
