Philadelphia, PA - Barry’s Buns launched in May 2016 with their first location at the MARKET at the Fareway in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. Today, Barry’s Buns is thrilled to open its second location at the Bourse Marketplace located at 111 S. Independence Mall East in the Old City section of Philadelphia.
This historic building is going through a massive restoration and its glory is being restored. The unique food hall will support new merchants and local artisan's, a true display of the Philly sprite.
Additionally, all Barry's baked goods are going to be prepared on property, at the Bourse, A few other popular items will be their Philadelphia butter cake, chocolate babka, cinnamon and crumb cake, and Jewish apple cake - to just name a few. Yet, Barry’s is a lot more than buns and provides other tasty baked goods. Barry's Buns is an all-natural, prepared from scratch at the bakeshop, specializes in gourmet sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, and liege waffles.
Barry’s Buns is owned and operated by Joel Singer, who is a Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) alum and graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in baking and pastry arts. Before opening his own business, Singer was the Regional Bakery Associate Coordinator of Whole Foods Market for the Mid-Atlantic Region. His formal career in pastry began at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and was also the Assistant Pastry Chef at The Rittenhouse Hotel under Executive Chef Jean Marie LaCroix.
