As part of its commitment to the community, VERTS will donate 100 percent of sales of sides, drinks and extra entrées on opening day to the CAPA Foundation, whose mission is to provide support to the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, nurturing the creative talents and aspirations of students within an academic and arts college preparatory program.

Founded in 2011 by Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, two millennial MBA graduates from the University of Texas in Austin, VERTS was inspired by the traditional Mediterranean dishes the two missed from their native Europe.

“We’re thrilled to be opening in the vibrant community of Center City,” said Stein, Co-founder and Co-CEO of VERTS. “Philadelphia is a city with an expanding restaurant scene where its patrons truly appreciate culinary artistry. We look forward to bringing our culinary prowess and strengths to students, residents and professionals who live and work in the neighborhood.”

At VERTS, guests first select a base for their meal, with options including pita, salad, rice bowl or quinoa bowl. They then choose from four lean delicious proteins, including beef and lamb, chicken, turkey and mushroom meatballs, and house-made falafel. Next, they customize their meal by adding savory toppings like spiced chickpeas, pickled jalapenos, carrot slaw, marinated green olives and sumac onions. FInally they top off their entree with a mouth-watering sauce made from scratch (or two). Options include spicy cilantro, tzatziki, hot harissa, hummus and roasted red pepper.

Serving Philadelphia’s Center City area and surrounding neighborhoods, the city’s first VERTS restaurant offers takeout as well as a modern aesthetic for a welcoming and comfortable dine-in environment.
