recipe bookAll of the flavors will pull together as you build them first in a large skillet and then transferring them into a slow cooker to infuse the intoxicating aromas into every bite. To make this meal, you will need a slow-cooker with a low heat setting that can be programmed for 3 hours, a large skillet, a large pot to boil the potatoes in, a pasta strainer, and a potato masher.

Ingredients:

  • 1Lb Ground Lamb
  • 2Cups Vegetable Stock
  • 3½ tbsp Cornstarch (set aside, this is used at the very end)
  • 3½ tbsp water (set aside, this is used at the very end)
  • 1½ cups of frozen peas and carrots
  • ½ cup of sweet onion, diced
  • 1tbsp salted butter
  • 1tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1tbsp Powdered Cumin
  • ¼ tsp Powdered Turmeric
  • 1tsp Dried Parsley Leaves
  • ¼ tsp Dried Tarragon
  • 2tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp Powdered Sage
  • 1/3tsp Powdered Cardamon
  • 1tbsp Black Ground Pepper
  • 1/4tsp Powdered Clove
  • 2 ¼ tsp Ground Sea Salt

Ingredients for the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 6 large Potatoes
  • 1tbsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup salted butter

A. Directions to make the Lamb:
1. In a large skillet stir the olive oil, butter, and spices together on a low heat setting for 2 minutes. This is done to blossom the spices. After 2 minutes, add the chopped onion and continue to stir for another 2 minutes.
2. Increase the temperature to a medium setting and add in the lamb, stirring continuously for 4 minutes
3. Pour the vegetable stock over top and stir until all of the ingredients are coated, then transfer to the crockpot.
4. Set the crockpot on low heat for 3 hours. On a timer, set a timer to go off after 2 hours and 20minuets—you will add ingredients when this alarm goes off
5. Add to the crock pot the peas and carrots, place the lid on top, and begin the next step.

B. Directions to make the Mashed Potatoes:
1. Peel, rinse, and cut the potatoes into cubes (1 inch by 1 inch)
2. In a large pot, place cut potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer and generously salt the water. (approximately ¼ cup of salt; the water should have a strong salted taste.)
3. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes until the center of the potato cubes are very soft and can be split easily.
4. Drain the water and place the potatoes back into the pot.
5. Using a potato masher blend until there are no lumps of potato left, or the potato is a creamy consistency.
6. Add the milk, butter, and garlic powder and mix until thoroughly blended
7. Set the mashed potatoes aside until the Lamb portion is done being slow-cooked. Once the Lamb is done cooking, skip to “C Directions” Step 5.

C. Directions For the Lamb Sauce, when the timer alarms
1. After 2 hours and 20 minutes have passed, use a separate microwaveable bowl to heat up 3½ tbsp of water in the microwave for 30 seconds.
2. Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave and add the cornstarch in, mixing it together until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
3. Remove the lid from the crockpot and stir in the cornstarch mixture until it is fully dissolved into the lamb.
4. Place the lid back on top of the crockpot and continue cooking on a low heat setting for 40 min.
5. Once the crock pot is done cooking for a total of 3 hours, remove the lid and spoon the mashed potatoes on top of the Lamb to complete the meal. It is now ready to be served!
