PhillyBite FLame to TablePhiladelphia, PA - A vast majority of Philadelphia’s dining establishments, bars and dining places share one particular often forgotten trait: they cook food with natural gas and make use of natural gas to bring Philadelphia’s very best dishes to the dining table. To show the reasons why natural gas is so indispensable in the fast-paced restaurant world, and the reason everyday chefs prefer it at home, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is introducing a series of short web videos on its YouTube channel, PhillyGasWorks.

fireHonoring the excellence and variety of Philly’s food industry, and featuring men and women that make it happen, each episode of Flame To Table is going to profile a restaurant or bar that makes use of natural gas to deliver its culinary creations to life. The series launches with Dim Sum House by Jane G’s.

Flame To Table episodes are less than five minutes long and combine behind-the-scenes kitchen footage with a tableside conversation over some popular menu items. In the first episode, the PGW team visits Dim Sum House, in University City, where partner and general manager, Jackson Fu talks to us about their Cantonese- and Shanghai-inspired dim sum. Upcoming episodes will feature the gastropub Taproom On 19th, The Little Lion in Historic Philadelphia, the stylish dining room at Relish and many others.

“Most professional chefs and cooks demand the quickness, control and reliability that only natural gas can offer,” said Barry O’Sullivan, Director of Corporate Communications at PGW and Flame To Table host. “There is no better way to share these benefits with people than going out and meeting the people who use it best.”

“People in Philadelphia often see our dedicated women and men in their neighborhood, engaged in the hard work necessary to maintain our safe and reliable system,” said O’Sullivan. “We’re producing Flame to Table to show some of what all that work supports – a thriving food industry that employs thousands of people and has helped to make Philly a haven for foodies.”

Built for social media Flame to Table is a web series that will live on YouTube. As new episodes are released, they will be announced through their Twitter channel, @MyPGW and on the PGW Facebook page.
