3. Village Whiskey

The casual, cozy atmosphere is the perfect spot to kick back after a long day of sightseeing or work. The restaurant opened in 2009 and has a menu of over 200 whiskeys. Chef Jose Garces envisioned the location as an escape from his day-to-day work routine. The restaurant's centerpiece is a central bar where barkeeps whip up classic cocktails. The design is reminiscent of a Prohibition-era speakeasy.

4. Red Owl Tavern

If you are in Philadelphia and want to eat a great burger, try Red Owl Tavern.  Located near the Liberty Bell and in the historic Old City, the restaurant serves good burgers and other American classics with smart twists. Located adjacent to Independence Mall, the Red Owl Tavern offers the Tavern Burger, a classic burger with a bacon patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheddar cheese. You can also upgrade it to include applewood-smoked bacon, avocado, and truffle fries for an extra cost.



5. GateHouse

Gatehouse is an old gatehouse that's now a modern American restaurant that features a large outdoor patio and beer garden.  The casual space serves one of the city's best burgers, and you can't go wrong with tier regular happy hour specials. There are also a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. The restaurant also serves craft cocktails and beer if you're looking for a fun place to grab a drink. The restaurant is located in the former gatehouse of the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Originally called Lo Spiedo, the restaurant was later renamed Bar Amis and reopened as The Gatehouse. The restaurant features an outdoor patio, beer garden, and a full dinner menu. The space is also close to the city's sports arenas.
