Philadelphia, PAPhiladelphia Cheesesteak Adventure - It was a Holiday Miracle!! My 750th Different cheesesteak since starting the Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure in May 2018.

Providence Pizzeria, Newtown Square, PA

I was joined by elementary school friend John Warrington. It was a very mild and sunny December 23rd, which was nice since we were COVID restricted and sitting outside. The people were friendly, but Route 3 was a little noisy. The reason for the visit was pretty stinking good. Bad pun intended.

Providence Pizzeria is on Route 3 by Providence Rd in Newtown Square in Delaware County. If you look on google maps, they are a stone’s throw from Chester county.

The north edge of Ridley Creek State Park is on the other side of Route 3. I forgot how big Ridley Creek State park is. They have inside seating, I assume a bathroom, parking (a couple spots that fill up because they are busy), and about 5 tables outside.

You are near a small plate country, and they are relatively new and more small plates than a pizzeria. I was surprised the menu was very pizzeria, but they had about 5 cheesesteak choices.

I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and American cheese, which came on a seeded roll. I wish I asked where they got their rolls because I really liked this roll. It added flavor, had a crust, was light and easy to chew.

You could see the onions and mushrooms spent time on the grill with the meat. Everything worked together and had a great flavor—my 2 concerns, not real concerns. But more 2 things that keep this from being a very top cheesesteak.

1. The cheese was melted pretty well through; however, it looked like they put it on top of the meat, then flipped it on the roll while still on the grill. I would love a better cheese melt.

2. More meat, this is a delicious cheesesteak, and it was under $10. I was eating mostly roll at ends.
